  1. My GPA is lower than required in order to participate in the Argentina & Chile Summer Program.  Can an exception be made in my case?  The DGJEPO can make an exception depending on the amoutn of students that apply to the program, and reconsidering the grades submitted by the end of May.

  2. Is a VISA required in order to participate in the Argentina & Chile Summer Program?  No, student VISA's are not required when the stay for a period less than three months.  However, students need to a pay reciprocity fee of $160.00, at least, 48 hours prior to arrival in Argentina.  No reciprocity fee is needed to enter or exit Chile.  To pay the reciprocity fee you must access the following link:  http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/country/argentina.html.

  3. Does the DGJEPO offer accomodations for exchange students going to Argentina and Chile? No, the DGJEPO does not offer accomodations for students, however, we do provide a list of apartments and hostels we recommend. 

  4. How do I obtain financial assistance in order to pay for the program? It is indispensable for the student to contact the financial assistance office of their school and apply for a student loan early in the semester.  UPR students should contact Mr. Mickel Ayala and arrange an appointment with him.  If you are need of a student loan in order to pay for the trip, it is highly recommended that  you apply for the loan at the beginning of the semester.  If you apply late during the semester you are at risk of not receiving the disbursment of the loan on time for your trip.  No special loans or scholarships are offered for the students attending the summer program.
