Frequently Asked Questions

  1. My GPA is lower than required in order to participate in the Barcelona Summer Program.  Can an exception be made in my case?  The DGJEP can make an exception depending on the amount of students that apply to the program, and reconsidering the grades submitted by the end of May.

  2. Is a VISA required in order to participate in the Barcelona Summer Program?  No, student VISA's are not required when the stay is for a period of less than three months.

  3. Does the DGJEP offer accomodations for exchange students going to Barcelona? No, the DGJEP does not offer accomodations for students, however, we do provide a list of apartments and hostels we recommend.

  4. How do I obtain financial assistance in order to pay for the program? It is indispensable for the student to contact the financial assistance office of their school and apply for a student loan early in the semester.  UPR students should contact Mr. Mickel Ayala and arrange an appointment with him.  If you are in need of a student loan in order to pay for the trip, it is highly recommended that  you apply for the loan at the beginning of the semester.  If you apply late during the semester you are at risk of not receiving the disbursment of the loan on time for your trip.  No special loans or scholarships are offered for the students attending the summer program.
